Social media guru Rin from Sew in Love tells us 3 questions to answer a resounding YES to before you publish that post!
Did you just spend 20 minutes finding the perfect filter for your Instagram post? Sure, it looks great, but what is that post going to do to increase your bottom line?
Too often, businesses get swept away by the euphoria of gaining new followers and more “likes”. Whilst I appreciate a beautiful Insta feed or a clever Facebook post that has gone viral, I often wonder what strategic impact they have on the business.
To ensure the time you spend on social media is truly beneficial to your business, consider these three questions for every post. The answer should be a resounding “Yes!” for every piece of your social media content.
Question 1: Will it stop someone scrolling?
There are so many distractions on social media. When someone is scrolling through Facebook for example, you have mere seconds of eyeball time. Competition is fierce for the most attractive, attention-grabbing post, so test what works for your audience. I have found bright colours, a human face and video on auto-play to be winners.
Question 2: Is there a call to action?
Make it easy for your audience by telling them what to do next. Are you a retailer? Add a link to buy the item. A personal trainer? Tell them where they can sign up for your next fitness challenge. Don’t leave it to chance for them to find out more about you.
Question 3: Does it sound human?
In this increasingly digital age, what sets a successful business apart is its ability to stay human. Great copywriting helps, of course. Introducing yourself or your team members, if you work for a company, is a must. But my biggest tip is to share your mistakes and learnings. Our flaws are what makes us human AND instantly relatable.
